I’m Brit Jonaitis, a professional photographer based in Chicago, Illinois, and I specialize in exquisite newborn photography. With a good deal of experience behind me and kids of my own, I know how important these photographs are. I’m here to make sure you and your baby have a relaxing experience that results in beautiful, timeless memories. Newborn sessions typically take place within 14 days of baby’s arrival and last three and a half to 4 hours. In order to ensure a session date, it is best to book your session at the end of your first trimester. Newborn sessions are held in your home for your convenience and that of your newborn.

My background is in teaching math to middle schoolers. I became entranced with photography after I stayed home with my second daughter after she was born. In photographing her, I taught myself how to shoot, and then went to newborn photo workshops. I gained further practice photographing newborns of friends and family. Since then, my new profession has taken off. Photography goes along with my love of teaching and learning, babies, and being around kids. I love the act of capturing moments that last a lifetime or more. Newborns are my absolute favorite subject to photograph. Newborn photo sessions work when your baby is full and fast asleep. Then it’s easy for me to gently move them into the most precious poses. Sometimes, we might get lucky and your baby will open their eyes for a gorgeous gaze. I absolutely love detail shots of fingers and toes.

With your little one still under fourteen days old, I’ll create a calm atmosphere and make sure your baby is both comfortable and secure. Once asleep, we’ll get some fantastic prop shots with your baby in baskets, buckets, and crates, swaddled comfortably. I have gorgeous knitted blankets, soft hats, and furry coverings for below that add to each photograph. I go the extra mile in every session to ensure that the resulting photographs are worthy of being shared time and again, at each of the milestones in your child’s life. These portraits are memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
