Modern yet Timeless Style | Chicago Children Photography
My photography style can be considered modern – you won’t find me doing the cheesy 80s backdrops many might be familiar with. My style is adaptable to the subject, which is useful for this kind of photography! Newborns and babies are often asleep, and are easy to pose in artistic shots. The older a baby gets, the more active he or she is, and taking gorgeous photographs necessitates a more photojournalistic style. This style has been described as capturing “verbs.”
Photojournalistic Methods | Fun Child Portraits
Photography, as most of us know it, is motionless – where people pose and smile for the camera. Photojournalism is much different in that it’s about capturing spontaneous action. Most people are probably familiar with photojournalistic photos in newspapers, though they may not know the name. Children have such high energy levels, and as such, it takes a photographer with a quick and keen eye to take accurate depictions. This is where the practice of photojournalism comes into play. With photography, I can create – with images – the story of your child, in a timeless and objective way.
Props and Locations | Chicago Child Photographer
The use of props can be very beneficial to the atmosphere of a photo session. I don’t generally use toys as props in portraits, because babies and children play with them frequently and portraits are meant to be a bit more timeless. If a parent would like the inclusion of a special toy or item, however that can always be arranged. The use of props like buckets, and crates can also be incorporated into shots for practical and aesthetic purposes.
Photo Collections | Beautiful Child Portraits
I have three photography collections available, in addition to the session itself and the basic package of 20-25 edited images on a disc. First in the collection is the Maisyn, which has a 15 gift prints disc with 20-25 edited images. Second is the Blythe, with 15 gift prints, an image box, an 11×14 standout, and a disc with 20-25 edited images. Rounding out the collection is the Cassidy, which has 15 gift prints, an image box, a disc of 20-25 edited digital images, and a 10×10 session album.
